Life is Good!

Hi everyone! Sorry for keeping you all waiting for so long - you see, my parents decided now would be the perfect time to move into a new home. Well, if I hadn't been 2 weeks late it would have been a little easier, hehe. Anyway, on Tuesday we moved to the northeast part of Capitol Hill where we bought our first house, a 1908 row home! Since I kept mommy occupied most of the time, we couldn't have done it without help from Grandpa, Aunt Steph, Uncle Larry, Larissa, Eryka, and Vanessa - thanks for all your help!

Okay, back to the real reason you're reading this - me! Life out here ain't too bad - I mean, I'm pretty much getting waited on hand and foot. Apparently, I don't sleep as much as other newborns, but I sure do eat more! I eat so much that the doctor said I'm gaining 3 ounces a day. And, since I'm too little to be embarrased, I'll go ahead and tell you that I'm a bit gassy...mommy is even afraid to eat a lot of foods because she doesn't want to be up all night! They're going to get me a bouncy seat really soon, though, so mommy can sleep a little. Also, not to brag, but I'm really alert, and, in general, a very happy baby. I have such awesome parents...

In other news, my modeling career began last week when mom and dad took me for a photo shoot - pictures will be up soon so you all can order them!

In the mean time, here are some random pics from the last 11 days. Stay tuned!

It's game time! Getting ready for the upcoming Penn State season.

Resting with Dad. The move is finally over!

My first bath! I loved it.

I like this outfit!

I have to keep the hair out of my eyes ; )

So I guess to wrap this post up, life is good. I can't wait to now meet grandma and grandpa Beasecker who are coming down with my aunt and uncles for the weekend!

Adios,

Cora

Hello World!

I want to start this post out by first apologizing for taking so long to update my followers and family. I have been very busy adjusting to this new environment and have been really concentrating on eating, which makes for little time to post.

I was told by my daddy yesterday that I guess I gave him and mommy quite a scare. My mom went into labor around 6:00pm on April 8th. As you know, she took this yucky stuff early in the day called Caster Oil to help induce labor. Well...it worked. Unfortunately, this laxative/labor inducing oil gave Mommy contractions, followed by throwing up, followed by cramping....you get the point. Daddy called the midwife around 7:00pm when Mommy could no longer move and the midwife responded swiftly. Lisa (midwife) came over, checked Mommy and within the hour Mommy and Daddy were driving to the Birthcenter. At the Birthcenter, my dad's role was to coach my mom the whole time. They attended 12 weeks worth of class to get my mom and dad ready for me. My biggest highlight of the labor was the giant tub. They both decided to get in together which was very warm and cozy for me. Needless to say, my mom was absolutely fearless and labored for fourteen, very intense, hours straight with no drugs! There was just one problem...

"When you gotta go, you gotta go," and as my mom was pushing me out...I was doing a little work myself. I went #2 and injested what grown ups call Merconium. This caused my heart rate to go down very quickly. The midwife told Daddy and Mommy that if she didn't get me out in the next push that they would have to rush Mommy and I by ambulance to Alexandria Hospital.

Mommy tried and did not succeed. All these people came in and carried mommy into a big white truck with bright lights. We drove what seemed like an hour, but was really just six minutes, to the hospital, and that is where Mommy finally had the winning push, less than an hour after arriving, to send me into the world.

I was born at 7:57am and was 18.5" long, 6.7 lbs. I am not going to lie, everyone thought I had beautiful hair and great eye lashes. My grandparents, aunt, and cousins made the journey from State College, PA to hold me and make sure I was doing okay.

It all worked out in the end. Daddy, although almost having a heart attack, is doing well and took advantage of the free snacks the hospital had to offer. Mommy is recovering and was able to maintain her goal of having me drug free. Heisman is staring at me most of the day wondering what I am, and as for me... I am eating, eating and eating. What can I say, I am a Workman... Here are some photo's for all of my fans and family.

Stretching, it was really crowded in there!

Hanging out!

Until next update!

A Spoon Full of OJ Helps the Medicine Go Down

It is now April 8th, and I am still very cozy inside my cocoon. However, the people on the outside are starting to talk... They made my mom get a stress test on Tuesday, which I passed with flying colors. They also made her get an ultrasound on Thursday to test the amniotic fluid levels. Even though everything looks good, for some reason they think I need to come out by Monday!

So, this morning I was forced to endure a castor oil/oj concoction. It was unpleasant, to say the least. The midwives hope this will get the insides "moving" and get the contractions going. Is today my birthday?

Spicy!

So, tonight my parents did exactly what I was afraid of and they followed through with their promise from the last post....They celebrated their one year (it's only been a year??) anniversary and ate at Ethiopic (http://www.ethiopicrestaurant.com), a restaurant on H St. NE in Capitol Hill specializing in Ethiopian cuisine. Daddy had lamb tibs and Mommy ate the vegetarian platter, and I must say it was VERY SPICY. Mommy and Daddy took me for a pretty long walk today to Eastern Market with my brother Heisman and that was after my Mommy made me get up very early to do another round of yoga. Daddy has spent the day looking at his new love, a 100 year old rustic farm table that he bought for the family and new house.

I can tell my parents really want me to come, but only time will tell...I am very comfortable where I am!

Until next post,

Cora

The Waiting Game

Hey everyone I am here!.....April Fools!  It is now April 1st and I have decided I am still not ready to come into the world yet.  My mom did preggo yoga last night at Capital Hill Yoga and gave me the chance to stretch out and bounce around a little bit....but not enough to shake me loose!  I overheard my mom and dad talking last night and they mentioned taking me to eat Ethipopian food and ordering the spiciest items on the menu..I am a little worried about this.

My parents have been ready for quite some time and even bought me a house! The house is two blocks from a brand new and giant playground in Capitol Hill in DC.

Maybe you will see me soon, maybe you won't.  In the mean time I will be just "livin the dream"
